I Heart Faces Challenge……”Sunflare”

“This photo was entered into the I Heart Faces photo challenge – http://iheartfaces.com

Once in a while I like to venture on over to “I Heart Faces” Blog and check out all of the stuff going on.  This site has great tips for photographers of all levels.  This week the challenge is “Sunflare”.  I am in love with sunflare.  One photo comes to mind when I think of sunflare is one of my brother and two of his little boys.  So precious.  I took this a couple years back and every single time I look at it I totally tear up.  LOVE this photo.

MARCH MADDNESS!!!

I’m sure you have all seen the movie, “Lilo & Stitch”.  There is a quote that has been ringing in my head for a while……’Ohana means Family, Family means nobody gets left behind.  As a parent, we all strive to make sure that “nobody gets left behind”.  In the past few months I have watched one of my children start to struggle with their school work.  At first I thought it would get better with time but it has been brought to my attention that they are in need of some help.  Nothing in this entire world is more important than making sure my children have all the tools they need to succeed in life.  I will sacrifice whatever it takes.  With that being said……I am going to be changing things up with my business for March and April:

1.  I no longer shoot in the evenings……this is when my child is home and I can help them.

2.  I only shoot some saturdays

3.  I will no longer be doing any ordering…….this will change but it is what I have to do right now.

I love what I do and it saddens me to have to slow down but my child is way more important.  Please bear with me and know that this it just temporary.  I will now be including the High-Resolution with sessions.  I believe it will free up some time for me to help my child.  The ordering is what makes me crazy and takes up a lot of my time.  One day I will be able to hire someone to help me but for now this is my solution.

Here is my new pricelist for March and April Sessions.  You will notice that I haven’t included a “Family” Session.  That is because they are a lot of work and I can’t afford to take up any more of my time.  I am also shooting in my home with natural light and I just don’t have the space needed for this.  This will change.

For Grads of 2011!!  Here is my pricelist for you!  This is good all year.

I truly appreciate all of my clients!  This is why I love my job.  I am flexible……which is what you need to be when you’re a mom.  Change is good!

Sheila - Good For You, TJ!
I hate to tell you this, but it gets even busier when they are older. Your clients will adjust and you will feel a lot “free-er” (is that a word? ) Enjoy those kiddos! I have felt the same way with one of mine for the past year (since I got a separate studio) Oh, where are my priorities?

March 4, 2011 - 11:32 am

Nataly - I hear you…all my kids are all still so young, but whatever their ages, family always comes first…and you’re right…us moms know all about being flexible :) Good luck with everything :)

Catching Up Part 3…………..

I’m getting there!  I am really feeling like I’m seriously behind.  I am heading south this weekend to my brother-in-law’s wedding.  I’m very excited but not looking forward to the wind!!  I’ve heard the winds have been unreal down there.  That’s one of the reason’s I moved away…….that blinkin wind.  It just makes me grouchy!!  I do have two new neices that have been born in the last week though and I am looking forward to meeting them.

Onto the post……I have made it to Christmas Eve and Christmas!  Here are a few pics of the festivities!!

Hope Everyone has a fabulous Weekend!!

Catching Up Part 2!!

My sister-in-law came to visit with her adorable kids.  We had so much fun just hanging out.  Our kids get along so well that we actually get to just sit and visit.  One night we decided to hit the mall for about an hour.  On our way home we got into a car accident.  My poor yukon……we ended up being okay but it was just so inconvenient!!  I didn’t take any pictures since I wanted to just forget that it had happened. :(  While they were here we ended up taking some studio snaps and they turned out so cute!!

We had Mari’s baptism in December.  We appreciate all the family that came and supported her in her decision to be baptised.  She is now an official member of  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She looked so beautiful thanks to Grandma Harris who made her dress the night before!!  My mom is so talented.  I hope one day I will follow in her footsteps.  Thanks mom for all that you do for us.  I know Mari was so excited to be baptised.  We were going to wait til January but she insisted it be done in December.  She is such a treat to have around and brings a very special spirit  in our home.  We all love her to death!

Another newborn!!  I have been photographing this family for a couple of years.  They are awesome.  Such cute little boys!  It’s fun to see them and get to visit with mom.  I just love getting to catch up with past clients.  I honestly feel like I could call up my clients and just go out for lunch.  I love getting to know my clients and I feel so blessed that they trust me to create memories for them.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Remember this little man?  This is now the older brother!!

This was one of the weddings I shot in 2010.  It was a cold one!  Luckily they braved the cold weather for a few shots outside.  I can’t even imagine how she was feeling cause I was freezing to the point that I couldn’t physically move my fingers anymore.  She didn’t even have a coat on!!!  What a trooper.  We did go to the Coast Hotel in Sherwood Park to take indoor pictures.  I totally appreciate the fact that they booked a venue to take pictures at.  It helps when you don’t know what mother nature is going to throw your way.  Last year I shot a wedding almost to the day and it was beautiful outside!  When I say beautiful I mean it wasn’t snowing and it was only -6 degrees celcius.  Anyway, here are a few of the hundreds of snaps we took.  Oh, and I have to let you know that Awesome was my b@#*$ for the day.  He was such a good assistant.  Thanks babe.

Well, I’ve got us caught up to Christmas Eve.  I will be posting more later!  It’s time to do my motherly duties and get some house cleaning done!  YUCK!  Anyone want to help me?

Check ya later!

UrbanAlli Photography - all of these are gorgeous… holy post.. loving it.

Catching up!!!

I realized the other day that I haven’t really updated the blog since NOVEMBER!!!  Sure I’ve ran a few contests but no real post.  So, kick back with your favorite snack and prepare yourself for a very long post!!

First off was the Buddy Walk.  We try to walk every year to help support my amazing nephew, Takai, in effort to raise funds for the EDSS and to also raise awareness.  We always have such a great time walking and visiting with friends and family who travel from all over Alberta.  I know Takai appreciates all of us taking time out of our lives to help raise money for the EDSS.  We all love you Takai!

Next was Kobe’s preschool fieldtrip.  We went to the post office and the fire hall.  Due to privacy issues I cannot post most of the pictures since I do not have permission from the parents so here are a few of my munchkin!

He totally fell asleep on the bus. Love it.
At the fire hall. He was pretty much spent by this point. Not really wanting to “pose” for a picture.
I originally wanted this picture so I could show Awesome how I wanted the “shelving” in the garage for the kids stuff! Then I fell in love with this shot and had to do a cool edit on it.

Then one of my newborns!  She is the lovely model at the top of my blog.  I have been taking pictures for this family for a while now and I have fallen in love with them.  What a beautiful family!!

These were also taken back in 2010!  I had to take a picture of the frost.  We get lots of it on our acreage.  It is just beautiful.

Well, I am tired and I need to get to bed.  Stay tuned for round two tomorrow!!

Check ya later!
